Cornerstone Christian School began as a result of prayer. Two years prior to its beginning one lady began praying for a Christian school. Later others also began praying at the request of Pastor Martin Weber, who worked diligently for a considerable time before seeing the opening of Cornerstone Christian School in Sept. of 1977 in the Alliance Church. At that time it was one of only a few Christian schools in the province of Alberta. In 1985 the school purchased its own building which consisted of 4 classrooms and offices and moved to the Southridge Estates Trailer Court. Two more classrooms were added in 1987, which are now the Kindergarten and Junior High classrooms. The unit which contains the present chapel was added in 1988. Due to the rising rental cost at the Southridge Estates, the board began searching for property. One of the board members having found a lovely treed area, suggested the chairman find out who owned the property. The end result was that the owner agreed to subdivide the land, and sell the present five acre parcel at a very reasonable price providing a permanent home for the school in 1992. The move presented complications and God held back the rains overnight until the buildings were safely in place. The city water was hooked up to the school just one day before classes were to begin. As God has worked in younger and older peoples hearts alike, to give sacrificially and volunteer willingly, Cornerstone has developed over the years.
In the summer of 2010 another big move as Cornerstone moved to the former site of Southview Kiddie Campus at 2366 Southview Drive. This solved space issues, gave us a dedicated chapel space, great parking, City maintained play area, beautiful offices, and a gym!
